Coverage limits
Standard shipments with a value up to $5,000 will qualify for insurance. If your items are worth more than that, please reach out to us before shipping so we can arrange additional coverage. This step matters — any value above $5,000 won't be covered if we haven't arranged it with you in advance, so please don't send high-value pieces without letting us know first.
What keeps your coverage valid
A few simple steps protect your claim if anything goes wrong in transit:
- Drop off in person. Hand your package directly to a clerk for an origin scan. Packages left in an unmonitored drop box are not eligible for coverage.
- Keep your receipt. Hold on to the printed drop-off receipt showing the package was accepted and scanned.
- Document your items before sealing the box. Photos or video of your jewelry next to the shipping label, plus any purchase receipts or appraisals you have, will support your claim's value if the package is ever lost. Without proof of value, payouts are generally limited to $100.
If a package goes missing
- Email our Customer Success team right away at support@caratandore.com to report it.
- We'll open a formal claim with the carrier on your behalf.
- You'll submit your documentation — item photos, proof of value, and drop-off receipt.
- The carrier investigates the loss.
- If approved, our Customer Success Team will support you through the settlement process.
